Portable Appliance Testing is a legal requirement for ALL businesses.

The 'Electricity at Work Regulations' (1990) states that there is a legal responsibility in ALL work places to prevent electrical accidents and are to be maintained in a safe condition to protect users from electrical shock and fire hazard.

The Health and Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable accidents involve portable appliances.

If it plugs into the mains, it legally has to be tested

Therefore all businesses must implement a systematic and regular program of maintenance, inspection and testing of electrical appliances.
