Who Should Attend:
The goal of this course is to provide Microsoft® Windows NT® 4.0 support professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to support Microsoft Windows® 2000-based networks. This is a performance-based course, designed upon the job-related tasks a support professional must perform using new or modified features in the Windows 2000 operating system.

Content applies to Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, except as noted within the course.

This course is intended for support professionals who will be responsible for performing the following tasks:

  • Installing Microsoft Windows 2000
  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting the domain name system DNS
  • Installing and configuring Active Directory™
  • Populating and managing Active Directory
  • Managing file resources
  • Managing desktop environments with Group Policy
  • Managing software using Group Policy
  • Installing and configuring Terminal Services
  • Configuring and supporting remote access
  • Supporting the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and the Windows Internet Name Service (WINS)
  • Creating and managing dynamic volumes
  • Implementing disaster-protection and disaster-recovery techniques
  • Upgrading a Windows NT 4.0-based network to Windows 2000

Pre-Requisites:

  • Course 803, Administering Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, or equivalent skills and knowledge
  • Course 922, Supporting Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Core Technologies, or equivalent skills and knowledge including:
  • A thorough understanding of DHCP, WINS, and Internet Protocol (IP) subnetting and routing.
  • Experience supporting networks and end users.
